front page stuff (last updated August 4 2008):
Holcombe debuts his traveling music theater performance, "Into the Dark Unknown: The Hope Chest," on October 2 in Seattle at "On the Boards" mainstage Merrill Theater. The piece will be traveling to San Francisco, Portland and New York (in the January Under the Radar Festival at the Public Theater), dates and times TBA. The performance has been commissioned by Portland Institute for Contemporary Art and On the Boards, and has been additionally funded by a national MAP Fund project grant, an Oregon-regional RACC project grant, and a National Performance Network Creation fund grant. With scenic designer Erik Flatmo, Holcombe is creating a little piece of theater that you'd just swear was a show of his original tunes most inspired by the American Folk Music revival of the 50s and 60s. Read more about the work in progress performance last year at the Time-Based Arts festival, or order tickets now for the Seattle October 2-4 performances. 100 months until irreversible climate change. Thanks for noting this in your everyday rituals. There is actual, tangible progress being made on the forthcoming album, "Into the Dark Unknown," which is, in one sense, a companion to his performance "Into the Dark Unknown: The Hope Chest."
